Keeping Comments open for one article

Something that doesn’t seem possible at the moment.
Assuming one has set the preferences to automatically close comments after a certain period of time (say 6 weeks). Is there a way to specify that comments for one specific article should remain open for a longer, much longer period of time?

[edit] Or would this be a Feature Requests?

Re: Keeping Comments open for one article

Probably a feature request, and a damn fine one at that!

Er, right.

Moderator, can this be moved to ‘Feature Requests’ ?

Re: Keeping Comments open for one article

Bumping this a little :-)

(following a post of mine in another thread, referring to an older article, I had no less than 5 people using my contact form because they couldn’t comment. By itself not a problem, but in some cases, people want to add comments that deserve to be public – as in: they really add something relevant to the article.)

Re: Keeping Comments open for one article

Sshh. Don’t tell anyone one of them was me will you? Actually the particular article I wanted to comment on is a prime candidate for this feature. Something that was originally written some time back but, by virtue of it’s subject matter, requires updating every so often and still have comments open to cover the update. Good example methinks.

Re: Keeping Comments open for one article

How about instead having an option for comments to go to moderation after the open comment period is over? That way people who want to comment can do so, but you can still avoid having spam show up on old entries.

Might be worth looking into for 1.1…

Re: Keeping Comments open for one article

I think it would be ideal if there was an option to have comments go to moderation after six weeks, instead of completely closing.

Edit: Er, yeah, what uberquickie said…

That would be an interesting option as well.

(not that I receive much comment spam, but one shouldn’t tempt them…)

How about just a checkbox to leave comments open until like whenever man!

Re: Keeping Comments open for one article

the comments to moderation after 6 weeks sounds like a great idea to me.
having an option to keep particular articles completely open might also be nice at some point.

Re: Keeping Comments open for one article

Has anyone made any progress with this? It’s a feature that would really, really help me right now.
