[request] Comment threading

Implementing a “Reply to this comment” feature will be really cool. Can anyone help?

Example…

Lets say three people comment on an article in your website.

- Comment 1

- Comment 2

- Comment 3

Image a fourth person, who wants to reply to Comment 2.

So is it possible to display the comments in the following order?

- Comment 1

- Comment 2

— Comment 4

- Comment 3

Comment threading.

It’s not so simple: probably outside the scope of just a simple plugin.

you’d probably need to add a field to txp_discuss to store the parent comment id value, as well write some php and/or javascript dom jiggery-pokery… such as on http://1976design.com/blog/

Re: [request] Comment threading

Forum integration, to replace the commenting system, would be what’s needed. And a pretty good forum, since most don’t handle threading.

Re: [request] Comment threading

Hmm. Forum integration will be great. But I dont see it happenning anytime soon. Until then I guess we will have to manage with the existing setup. (Its not so bad after all). Or as Andrew suggested 1976 has a lovely commenting system which we can try to understand and hack (with permission ofcourse).
