Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

How about for judging:

  • Design / color use / typography
  • Code beautification / validation
  • Use of Textpattern in unique and original ways

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

Accessibility, and usability, are very, very important too.

The first one understood as “I can’t use my arms, how can I browse” and so on ; the second one understood as “I surf with a 2000×1500 screen, I want it used” and so on.

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

Great suggestions. If i throw them all together we get:

Design
+ Composition
+ Colorscheme
+ Typography
+ Originality

Code
+ Validation
+ Accessibility
+ Usability

What you think?

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

A 50/50 split of 100 points:

Design (50) split up:
Composition:10
Color scheme: 10
Typography: 10
Originality: 20

Code (50) split up:
Validation (required??): 20
Accessibility: 20
Usability (what is this? Readability?): 10

This puts a focus on originality and clean, delicious code without forgetting the basics of design and readible code.

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

Usability should be in the design, not in the code. Usability is exactly what it means…the usability of the website (for exemple…that a visitor don’t have to search for everything, but that the site is clear). Hmm… I can’t get it explained clear in English :P, maybe someone else can.

I think you should have:

Design (50)

Code (40)

Usability (10)

I am not sure if we can realy judge on Usability. Usually usability is meassured or extensively tested.

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

Hmm, after thinking, maybe the Usability must have at least 20 points, because it is a quite important factor.
So what about 20 for usability and the 30 for the code section, in stead of 40?

Edit (after readings alexandra’s post): Aren’t there guidelinnes for usability? I’ve read a dutch book where it gave some guidelines. Let’s google

We’ve got to test usability. It’s more subjective than anything, but so is design. I agree with JoeyNL (above) that says we should probably give it more points.

@Jeff
you mix Accessibility and Usability. Usability is not subjective and can not be treated as such.

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

Good call. You’re right.

Then let’s change the word ‘usability’ to ‘accessibility’ in the points.

Bingo. We’re in.

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?

But I was talking about usability :P… hmm well just give usability 10 points and I’m happy :P … It has to be judged I think
