plugin coding: way to override overridden article?

hi,

inside a plugin, how would you check for, and code syntax to change a previously overridden article?

eg: I have a section where each article’s form is overridden. If I later want to show these articles in a different section can I use some code in a plugin to re-overide the form back to the “displaying section’s” form?
