Unable to upload plugin in 1.0rc3 - TextpatternGallery1.2.1

Hello,

I’ve just installed Textpattern today, and I am having trouble uploading a plugin. I’ve searched, but only found posts related to a version rc1.

The error I get when I click on the upload button is:

Badly formed or empty plugin code

I don’t know what I’m supposed to be typing into the text field there, because my HELP is not working right either.

I’m trying to install TextpatternGallery1.2.1

This is the INSTALL instructions:

Installation for Textpattern version 1.17b+

Paste before ob_start() on line 30 in textpattern/publish.php

//GALLERY include $txpcfg[‘doc_root’].’/plugin_gallery.php’;

Then put the file “plugin_gallery.php” into your textpattern doc_root
this is where textpattern homepage loads from…
Whe are putting this here as we want to make sure it survives an update.

OR

Use the new Plugin format but this requires working and enabled plugin
support. Install the file gallery.plugin to your host to use this format.
admin->plugins->install and make sure to enable it after installation.

Not sure if I should look for another gallery or not.

Whether you should stick with this gallery or not I couldn’t say.

The help wouldn’t work because the plugin hasn’t been installed yet.

(Edit: I forgot about the uploader.)

Hit browse, and upload the file gallery.plugin.

That’s what I’m trying to upload, but I’m getting the error.. Then I tried searching the plugins here, and everytime I try to download a plugin, I’m getting a .tx file, which is just a block of text…

OH!!! I DO need that block of text!!! never mind.. I think I get it.. This is much different than the other cms’ I’m used to~

It’s different, but you should be able to catch onto its idiosyncrasies fairly quickly. :)

I think you should try <a href=“https://textpattern.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5176”>rss_thumbpop</a>. Its a neat plugin and has plenty of features. Moreover its well documented and is compatable with RC3

Thanks! I installed it, and like what I saw on their site.. I’ll give it a try! That’s actually what I wanted anyway, since some images would break the layout of the site… Perfect!
