My wishlist for textpattern localisation
“I have a dream” ;)
I would be even more happy with textpattern, if the following phrases could be added to the language files:
- content > write > Advanced Options > custom1
- content > write > Advanced Options > custom2
- presentation > pages > default
- presentation > style > default
- presentation > forms > article, comment, link, misc
- admin > plugins > help
- admin > plugins > active
And I’m not sure why this happens: If I translate article and excerpt into German (Artikel/Exzerpt) the words are changed to lowercase. Why ever…
- content > write > Advanced Options > article, excerpt
- The buttons (publish, save) are to small because the width is fixed.
- If I translate “2 hours ago” into German, the result is “2 Stunden vor” – it should be “vor 2 Stunden”
Well: “I have a dream” :)

Re: My wishlist for textpattern localisation
Well, it would be difficult to just ‘localize’ some of the things you’re asking for, because with the exception of ‘help’ and ‘active’, everything is not hardcoded strings, but default values in database (or files as with the custom1/custom2 example fields – see lib/admin_config.php). So you’d need a default German installation package, not just a language file.
The rest of your post – yes, seems like you’re hitting the constraints of German, i.e. upper case word initials, longish German words etc. Valid points though.
Who’s gonna textdrive you home tonight?

We did this for RC2 – but my “dream” is not to do this ;)
If forgot something:
It would be a nice feature for German pages, if there was an option in the preferences to change umlaut-replacement from ä > a to ä > ae. It’s common practice in German to replace the umlauts ä, ö, ü, etc. by ae, oe, ue.

Re: My wishlist for textpattern localisation
- localised setup
- adding phrases link “my pithy slogan” (used by setup, written in database) etc. to the lang-files
