zem_nav and RC3

The zem_nav plugin seems to completely mess up TXPrc3 output. As in: reduces it to nothing at all.

Is there a re-issue in the works?

Re: zem_nav and RC3

Okay, more specifically: I’m prototyping a site that builds on the Creating a Photoblog tutorial. Now that I’ve ugraded the site to TXPrc3, I find that the [txp:zem_link_to_prev] and [txp:zem_link_to_next] fail to output anything whatsoever and that any [txp:article_image /] output gets obliterated if article images are placed within zem_link_to_prev tags.

Re: zem_nav and RC3

bump..

This plugin does weird things. On an absolutely barebones install, it outputs nothing. The tag [txp:zem_link_to_prev] etc is there in the source code.

On another install, a mirror from a live site, the plugin works, correct link but it outputs /section/id/titletitle as URL. Note the double occurence of ‘title’ in the URL

both have zem_nav and zem_link installed

Re: zem_nav and RC3

Also, on the rc1 install, each section’s oldest article image failed to show up in the html output. The upgraded install, now running rc3 and with zem_nav switched off, displays these images without a hitch, so it seems likely there was something wrong with the plugin in the first place.

Re: zem_nav and RC3

Anark, I’m having the same problem as you. Good to know that it’s not just me. I thought I was going crazy for a second when nothing was showing up on my page. I’m hoping this gets resolved soon as it’s rather essential for my photoblog, as I’d imagine it is for yours as well.

Remember that zem is now part of the TXP development team. It may be best to email him, but be patient for a reply.

Re: zem_nav and RC3

Just thought I’d bump this. I’m having the same problem here. Thanks Alex!

EDIT: I figured I’d try the normal <txp:link_to_next> tags; they seem to work fine, even on a list page.

Re: zem_nav and RC3

You’re right, Justin:

fix link_to_next and link_to_prev so they work in lists

This should mean that the zem_nav plugin is gone for good.

Observation: if you stick your article image inside link_to_prev tags to create a photoblog-style linear sequence between photo posts, the oldest image will disappear. The tag thinks that the link to the previous entry is the important thing, not the image that links to that entry. The oldest entry being the oldest entry, there is is no previous entry to link to, so the image goes out the window along with the link.

Re: zem_nav and RC3

Hell has special torments in store for those who, immediately prior to a v1.0 release, suggest fixes for what isn’t broken.

Still. It would be nice if the link_to_next and link_to_prev tags came with a choice between either displaying or not displaying the (non-linked) linkifier (text or image) if there is no linkified (prev or next article). This would also come handy in a navigation where the same nav elements are supposed to stay put across a site, regardless of whether or not they’re a clickable link on, say, the newest or oldest page in a section.

Re: zem_nav and RC3

The normal <txp:link_to_next> tags still don’t work within categories though.

Re: zem_nav and RC3

has anyone managed to get zem_nav working in RC3, or to get previous and next links restricted to categories?
