Re: RC3 french localisation file

OK I have found an issue with RC3 rev 254 I work with (and discovered there was clean urls for category !).

I am not sure this is in the language file but the url gets messed up and displays nothing instead of the content of the category selected :

http://…/cat%EF%BF%BDgorie/kesako

I don’t know why the é should transform into %EF%BF%BD (another Apache mystery to me), and where I can fix this by switching the é by an e.

Anyone noticed this.
Before I dig, any thoughts on this ?

THX !

Re: RC3 french localisation file

Sorry can’t edit my last post (forum broken again) so I’ll post again to add this.

There seems to have been a discussion on this topic but I don’t understand half of it :
clean urls and dirify

If it helps solving this…

Re: RC3 french localisation file

Nothing to do with me. Its an encoding of non ascii strings for the URL, very much needed. The clean way of doing this is to put somewhere a “clean URL” version of that string (transforming “Jérémie” into “jeremie” for example), but it seems that Zem won’t do it at least for now.

But it should work with the encoding %xx, technically there is nothing wrong with it.

Hmmm, I have come across something wrong with it : it makes XHTML validation fail :(

Re: RC3 french localisation file

It’s not. Wikipedia use this url scheme on all its i18n pages, without troubles. It’s another bug, the é in catégorie is encoded with something strange and not % encoded (last time I check, around rev 280).

See my answer on your bug report, it’s because a i18n string is missing from the lang files.
