Jason Hoffman on AI - a reading recommendation

Jason Hoffman is one of the founders of our thereabouts – the txp:veterans might remember his name.

I recently came across his essay on “On a Year of Multi-Model Assisted Development”, in which he recounts his experience with AI-assisted software development using three models in parallel, each one applied to their most capable tasks.

Jason scores the three as follows, using terms from the construction trades:

  • Codex is the drywall guy. Fast, reliable, consistent…”
  • Gemini is the surveyor. It covers ground fast…”
  • Claude is the architect. It handles complex briefs…”

I found Jason’s perspective very enlightening and far more nuanced than the terse AI rejection stance I had encountered so far.
