TED talks
Like most people in normal society, I was late to the whole TED talks thing, not really watching them until around 2011 or so. But I never watched a lot of them (a few on environmental topics, mostly), and I’ve since stopped watching them (a couple years now). I hadn’t really put my thumb on why, exactly; it was just seeming overly formulaic and corporate, and when content marketers started preaching about storytelling as persuasion and pointing to TT’s as examples… that was enough for me.
This (good) article just put things in perspective for me. TED talks pretty much do nothing for society despite most being oriented that way.
