Re: rc2 and 1.0

From the XHTML blurb you masterfully styled:

Why participate? For recognition, inspiration, and a resource we can all refer to when making the case for CSS-based design. This is sorely needed, even today. More and more major sites are taking the leap, but not enough have. One day this gallery will be a historical curiosity; that day is not today.

No?

Everyone should just forget about it and pretend it never happened.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

i’m sure you’re busy, Dean, but now might be a nice time to chime in with a reassuring “it’s coming, it’s coming” or even an eta(?)

Re: rc2 and 1.0

I’ll gladly wait for as long as it takes but it is really frustrating when we are told: “January 10”… and then a few days after that “it’s coming next Friday”. Well, it’s been how many weeks past “next Friday” now? I lost count.

I’d rather have no announcements at all until it is 100% done and ready to go.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

Indeed.

If it’s some IIS issues (or other minor things), releasing a RC3 might be nice too.

i’m pretty sure we’re just (a little more than) a week past the ‘next friday’ teaser.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

Not to pick at nits, but January 10 was a Monday. “Next Friday” was the 14th. Today is the 31st.

“It” will be great when “it” is available. It’s not likely we’ll get any (accurate) estimates as to when “it” will be available. “It” is open source software with a single, highly creative talent behind “it.” My experience is that no amount of pleading will change the period of time required to vine-ripen such a product.

I have used a lot of bandwidth hitting refresh the last 3 weeks. The wait was indeed easier back when we had no definite date to look to.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

Not when some things change dramaticaly in 1.0. For people designing new websites right now, a date is crucial for them to decide to go with rc1 and hack it to make it work, or wait for 1.0.

An ETA would be quite needed, even if it’s not met and new ETA are set, and so on.

And yet, an intermediate version (a “RC3”) would be nice to see what was change, were we are going, to adapt code and plugins to it.

Re: rc2 and 1.0

I don’t think there will be anything dramatic in 1.0. After all, entering RC phase usually involves freezing the features list. That said, I admit I haven’t seen a line from recent TXP code, so anything is possible.
