gaekwad started a thread last year on a similar concept – Textpattern users meet up – remote video & text chat conference.

Late getting to this, which is an unfortunate pattern over the last year or two – my apologies for that.

The old Joyent web server was fully decommissioned recently-ish, which marks the end of that hosting era for Textpattern. We have also reached the end of the first year of our DigitalOcean hosting and I’m looking at getting that renewed, too. When I know if we’re on DO for another year (comms are in progress) then we can spec out what infrastructure can be assigned for this. I am mindful that we have to balance everyday services (forum, main site, backups, reporting endpoints and so on) with short-term things (hosted video conferencing, live chat and so on) where the resource use is comparatively higher. Platforms like Rocket.Chat and Jitsi look great, but there’s a bit more of an on-ramp to get them working correctly.

Not at all Pete you have your hands full! The live chat on YouTube went really well so I’ll use that format the next time too, and we can use google hangouts separately if we want to too. 🙂 Best of luck with all the renewals!

I finally had the opportunity to run this in full length. Thanks for being our host, and for moderating so brilliantly the mess a text chat usually is, Hilary, been a fun to watch!

14: New header tag
17: Procedere for uploading and adding images to articles
20: Lean core + plugin extensions
21, 22: Controversy on image handling
25, 26: 29.200 images, 16 years of archive, (18.000+ articles) on one TXP site
28: Security
29: ModX
30,32: Drupal, Cold Fusion
31: “snippet”?
32: “form” is too deeply ingrained to get away from
33+: Shortcodes/forms

Re: Live YouTube chat on TXP

In case anyone was wondering, the “Forms” vs “Snippets” thread can be found here: WTF do we need form types for?

As for Gutenberg, the core functionality is that it separates everything (mostly paragraph) into Blocks which can be styled individually. Which is kinda sorta similar to what Hilary proposed in Could be crazy – but multiple body fields

Re: Live YouTube chat on TXP

Hey all, sorry I didn’t make it to the recent live chat – I will try to be there for the next one if planned. I’ll watch the archived video soon to see what happened. Cheers Hilary for hosting it, too!
