gaekwad started a thread last year on a similar concept – Textpattern users meet up – remote video & text chat conference.
Late getting to this, which is an unfortunate pattern over the last year or two – my apologies for that.
The old Joyent web server was fully decommissioned recently-ish, which marks the end of that hosting era for Textpattern. We have also reached the end of the first year of our DigitalOcean hosting and I’m looking at getting that renewed, too. When I know if we’re on DO for another year (comms are in progress) then we can spec out what infrastructure can be assigned for this. I am mindful that we have to balance everyday services (forum, main site, backups, reporting endpoints and so on) with short-term things (hosted video conferencing, live chat and so on) where the resource use is comparatively higher. Platforms like Rocket.Chat and Jitsi look great, but there’s a bit more of an on-ramp to get them working correctly.

Not at all Pete you have your hands full! The live chat on YouTube went really well so I’ll use that format the next time too, and we can use google hangouts separately if we want to too. 🙂 Best of luck with all the renewals!

Re: Live YouTube chat on TXP
In case anyone was wondering, the “Forms” vs “Snippets” thread can be found here: WTF do we need form types for?
As for Gutenberg, the core functionality is that it separates everything (mostly paragraph) into Blocks which can be styled individually. Which is kinda sorta similar to what Hilary proposed in Could be crazy – but multiple body fields
