serif font for span class=caps or abbr ?

It feels a bit odd to see a serif font used for strings of capital letters (span class="caps">ABC</span) — or for <abbr /> probably, but there are not many of them in the forums — inside blocks of text set in a sans-serif font (sytem-ui,…). Those are set to use PT Serif Caption.

See for example this post, the string GDPR – thus: GDPR.

Yeah, not sure myself. I thought it’d look nice to have small caps, but it doesn’t really. Will probably revert sometime.
