Replace existing files
Maybe I’ve never tried to do this on the current version of Textpattern (and I can’t find any other reference to this in this forum, so it could be me/my server).
If I browse to replace a file in a TXP site, I am unable to actually replace it. I can click replace, but it doesn’t update to the latest.
Anyone else seen this?

Re: Replace existing files
Hi Gavin, can you give any indication of:
- your Textpattern version
- perhaps whether the filename (existing or new) might have anything to do with it, e.g. funny characters, spaces etc.
- whether your files folder is writable

Re: Replace existing files
Hello
‘Files’ has permissions of 755
Filename has nice underscores: charging_policy.pdf
And possibly my bad (oops!):
Textpattern version: 4.6.0
Hang on whilst I update…

Re: Replace existing files
This is something on our list for when we refactor the Files panel code – probably next version now.
For now, try adi_file_tab which does this and (of course) more. With his blessing, I was planning to borrow some of Adi’s code and merge it with core for some of the excellent features in this plugin.

Re: Replace existing files
Thank you – not something I’ve done wrong then! I’ll try adi_file_tab like you suggest…
PS I love hanging out here because there are helpful and useful answers in record time. Shame I can’t post questions about other software on this forum, too ;-)

What’s happed to the bit in the admin interface where I could enable/disable plugins?
I thought I’d installed it, but…
It’s been a while, but Adi’s plug-in doesn’t seem to have any controls like I used to remember…

Should be in the Plugins panel in the Active column. If you can’t see the Yes/No/Options thingies, try force-refreshing / flushing the browser cache. Might be an old textpattern.js
file lurking.
