Is Textpattern suitable for doing this?

Hello textpattern guys.

I guess with the basic features i need it can be a forum system aswell:
-User system + private messages
-Custom pages for info like faq etc.
-Discussions
-News
-Image gallery where users can submit their drawings etc.
-I would also like to include webchat like https://qwebirc.org/ but not sure how.

Any recommendations/ideas?

Re: Is Textpattern suitable for doing this?

I’m afraid Textpattern can’t help you with these. Content pages, no problem, but forum, chat and group image posting is not part of Textpattern’s functionality.

Yes my purpose here was to ask other options if textpattern is not suitable…

Hi Darra and welcome to txp.

The problem is that there is no single secure software which could do what you need but you are right that forum software does offer some of those basic features.

I guess that it depends what you intent your site to focus on.

-User system + private messages
-Discussions

could be easily achieved with most open source forum apps.

-Custom pages for info like faq etc.
-News
-Image gallery where users can submit their drawings etc.

Could be achieved with txp and some plugins.

-I would also like to include webchat like https://qwebirc.org/ but not sure how.

The particular one seems that it is not supported any more – the last update was five (5) years ago!!!

The issues you will need to solve is how to unite the two logins: forum & txp

Re: Is Textpattern suitable for doing this?

Thanks. Im pretty sure all of those features except qwebirc can be found in some boards, i am also wondering about the security issues like sql injection etc. I guess im going to ask in envato.com

@Darra: I reconstructed the opening post you deleted, and rejected your request for deletion of this topic. I think that even reading of what TXP experts here think what Textpattern can not do might be helpful to others.
