Re: Summer 2015 fund raiser for Textpattern

Your previous idea of paying for an official domain is also good, but is texpattern.io going to be the new official domain or just being redirected to .com?

But – what about a Redactor OEM as another possible purchase for the project? Any legal entity is far off and can be the subject for another fund raising drive later.

I would be very happy to spend the money on Redactor, and their licence allows for us to integrate without damaging the GPLv2 status of our project, so no worries there.

However, someone would need to then integrate it into Textpattern. Stef is quite busy with roadmap bits we already have – so would Oleg or Ruud or anyone else mind helping us out with that patch? Any integration would also have to take into account that we also now allow for other textfilters in 4.6 onwards such as Markdown (Robert has made an example filter for that).

Any takers? It would be a great new feature IMHO.

Re: Summer 2015 fund raiser for Textpattern

Anything that aids the project is welcome, so I’m happy with Redactor. Let me know here how we should proceed – as any payment for the OEM would need to be in the name of someone. It can be me, but better if its in the name of a current dev I think. Probably all we need is a name/email id.

Thanks. We still have enough funds I believe for the OEM. If we can move on this it would be great.

F! No we don’t. The price was around US$700+ recently. They must have raised the cost.

Indeed. Well all is not lost, if I can get some answers from Stef and Robert then maybe we can do a little push to get the remaining money.

Yes we can do that. I’ll open another fund raiser immediately if you guys approve the purchase.

Boo, I didn’t even think about licenses – damn you OSS!

Food for thought.

The Redactor OEM license contains these gems:

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Imperavi LLC for any third-party claims, actions or suits, as well as any related expenses, liabilities, damages, settlements or fees arising from your use or misuse of the Software, or a violation of any terms of this license.

I do not want to be on the receiving end of that sentence.

Unless you have been granted prior, written explicit consent from Imperavi LLC, you may not: […] Use the software in violation of any United States or international laws or regulations.

How can the license holder, which would probably be an individual core team member as we have no other legal entity at hand, assert that s/he does not violate any law or regulations without any geographical limitation, now and forever?

Is this a license to be taken seriously, or would we just shrug at it, look aside and happily intgrate it in our free and libre product?
