internationalization & plugins
Has something changed since g1.19 with the way characters are encoded within plugins? Suddenly special characters for french and german are appearing wacked out when I save (trying to repair what somehow got corrupted through the course of an upgrade).

é -› é
û -› û
What gives? Everything worked fine before upgrading. Now it’s behaving completely differently.
Note: This is regarding a plugin written during g1.19, a subsequent upgrade to rc1, SVN update to r40. When I realized my plugin was not working anymore as intended, I realized that the special characters has at some point changed to ‘?’. I attempted manually editing them via the plugin edit interface, but that resulted in the wacky translation above. Entering international characters into plugins manually used to work fine.

Yeah, you’re right, there is a encoding/decoding bug in plugins. It didn’t occur to me, as I use a separate language file for my localised strings. I suggest you file this as Trac ticket.

1.0r40? The textpattern front page still lists 1.0rc1 as the latest version.
Is there a link to the latest version download?

No, the ‘rc’ in 1.0RC1 is for “Release Candidate”, while the ‘r’ in 1.0r40 stands for “Revision”. Compooter is talking about grabbing a latest version from TXP Subversion repository. All of them are strictly speaking post-RC1 and one of them will eventually become RC2.
