Requirements for Textpattern on MacOs
Did any of you try to get a live txp site on MacOS Yosemite (not on MAMPS) and does anyone know if any extra requirements are needed (or are not available for the particular server OS) to what they are listed here?

Re: Requirements for Textpattern on MacOs
There’s no technical reason why you couldn’t run a live site on a Mac, it’s just a Unix system underneath the skin after all. It may be easier if you purchase the OSX server upgrade though, since that provides a GUI interface (unless you are happy to use the command-line terminal).
This article covers what you want, I think.

As in, on a web-side server, or localhosting from ~/Sites? The latter, yes.
I used the supplied Apache, the supplied PHP, installed MySQL Community edition, tweaked the startup so it actually starts, and used virtual hosts to get it all running. I can do a walkthrough if that’d help, though.
Edit: and +1 to Phil’s suggestion for server components. For the price, it’s definitely worth it. If you already have a live OS X server you likely already have these installed.

Thanks guys, I’ll forward your answers to a friend I am working with for this project. The particular site will need to be up in October and this was the first question before we started:)

Hi testdeputy,
I’m working with some developers on this who prefer doing everything on the terminal (although they have no experience with txp) so I guess the initial question was to make sure that txp would have a chance of working on the system before I suggested it for the site.

In which case, consider it like Linux/UNIX with different folder structure.:
i) set up virtual host in Apache (they’ll know this already)
ii) add database, add user, give permissions
iii) download Textpattern, expand to virtual host folder directory
iv) run installer
v) sip a tasty beverage
I’m getting quite familiar with command line installs, so get in touch if you need help.

Thanks Pete, I posted this thread in our team on slack so they will tell me if there is a problem and I will definitely get in touch should they hit any walls.
