A question about txp structure

When I began using textpattern for my main web site I customized it in order to mantain the original directory structure, so that I have my blog home page in a subdirectory like this /directory1/directory2/index.php and the home page remained an old static page at /index.shtml (all this aiming to prevent search engines ranking-issues).

Because of this approach I can’t get my websiteHome ‘/index.shtml’ is automatically updated.

Once having made an ftp upload error I’ve discovered that placing the blog .htaccess in the root directory (together with /index.shtml) the page /directory1/directory2/index.php acts as if it was the main page and as it was placed in the root directory and index.shtml disappear (it doesn’t display), besides all seem work good.
Recently I’ve displaced also index.php in the root directory removing /index.shtml and all works similarly good.

I don’t know the reason of all that, I can’t understand, but I’m wondering about the ability of using this feature to take my index.php page in its natural position, while I mantain my CMS structure. I notice, also that Google, at present, can index the pages very quickly.

Then, my question: can the CMS develop any issues (security issue and any other) if I displace the CMS .htaccess and index.php from /directory1/directory2/index.php to the root directory and remove the actual /directory1/directory2/index.php and /directory1/directory2/.htaccess ?

A question about txp structure? What you write isn’t “about txp structure”. The Textpattern .htaccess file in the root of your other sites works because it works from the root including subdirectories.

On the other hand, index.shtml is a file for SSI (Server Side Includes) and has nothing to do with your Textpattern installation in the subdirectory.

like this: /subdirectory1/subdirectory2/Textpattern directory/

(2) It’s evident that the .shtml file has nothing to do with Textpattern; maybe you haven’t understood my question.

No, I didn’t mean that. It was only an explanation of why it worked.

Maybe … To me, it seems to be confusing. I don’t understand what you are doing and why. For example, you didn’t answer my question in an earlier post:

But, in general I don’t understand how you “make” your links. Why all your links in the main navigation are http://www.domain.tld/something/index.php?

I’ didn’t realize not having answered to you questions; anyway, now I’m talking about another site.

To me it doesn’t seem confusing what I’ve explained above.
Anyway I see you like to answer making (erroneous) questions and never understand what I write.

Perhaps you assume to be an expert, I can’t realize it.

Unfortunately, this already small forum was cut into halves by the introduction of the G+ groups. You might like to ask there, too. (Link in the forum footer, often hidden by adblockers.) But I’m afraid the same netiquette is valid there as it is here, nobody likes their help rejected.
