Leaping from 4.2.0 to 4.5.5. Anything I should be aware of?

My friend’s site runs 4.2.0 and we’ll soon be ready to upgrade.

Maybe it’s quite a leap from 4.2.0 to the current version of TXP.

Should the ordinary upgrade procedure work? Might we expect any problems or concerns before we jump in?

There might be some plugins that need an update or a patch. If you’re in doubt copy the plugin names from Admin > Diagostics (section “Active plugins”) and paste them here and we’ll have a look.

Thank you Maurice and Uli. I’m reassured to have the detailed upgrading instructions in the wiki.

The only plugins used are upm_date_archive and rvm_maintenance.

I am told that date archives can be done with native tags, Still, it would be convenient to continue using Mary’s plugin.

Mary does not support her plugins any more so it would be prudent to move to the native tags with wich we can help you here.

I’ve done the upgrade recently and picked up a few errors which I overlooked in the past plus some plugin issue (rss_suparchive_bycat) which I’m still working on. The guys here are very helpful. See my post here.
