Help with Upgrade

First forum post :-)

Just wondering if there is a way we can quickly patch from V 4.0.4 to latest version by just uploading the latest TextPattern files by FTP? This is how we update client Joomla sites.

We have moved an ancient Client TextPattern site from an old server that is about to be decommissioned to one of our new dedicated boxes we use for hosting Joomla/Moodle/Wordpress client sites and we are getting the usual PHP error messages

The site URL is http://gardens-of-argyll.co.uk/

We have tried upgrading using the automated process and this seems to create a duplicate textpattern folder below the original /textpattern folder and trashes the entire site :-)

Many thanks and apologies if this has been covered before

Re: Help with Upgrade

Uploading the files via ftp is the standard way. I assume your hosting control panel has an installer but you don’t have to use that.

Piwik Dashboard, Google Analytics Dashboard, Minibar, Article Image Colorpicker, Admin Datepicker, Admin Google Map, Admin Colorpicker

Re: Help with Upgrade

Thanks for the tips and we have now upgraded to 4.5.4

However for some inexplicable reason if we update an existing publiched article or write a new article under the events section it is stored in Textpattern but does not display when we view the website

We have tested the News section and this is working fine so haven’t a clue as to what might be causing this problem.

Do you have any ideas?

Re: Help with Upgrade

Sounds like you may have incorrect TXP tags in the page template which is used for Events. You could compare with the page template which is used for the News section.

Also, we sure that in the Sections tab the Events section is publishing to the correct page template.

Re: Help with Upgrade

We imported via a MySQL dump file so would assume all the TXP tags had been ported across correctly and there are a lot of events already listed for 2013 and these are all displaying.

It is just we cannot change the existing entries nor add new events.

However news is working perfectly.

Any other suggestions much appreciated as this is driving us demented trying to fathom what is wrong :-)

Thanks

Re: Help with Upgrade

Really appreciate all your help and here is the code for the Events section at http://www.gardens-of-argyll.co.uk/events/

As you can see the events we added before we moved servers are displaying correctly. However if we try and update a current event or add a new one it does nothing! Just ignores the changes we have made.

We inherited this site from another design agency so please excuse our inexperience with Text Pattern

Re: Help with Upgrade

Hi

maybe your problem is related to zem_event plugin : look here

it s an orphaned plugin, there a newer plugin handling events smd_calendar i dont know if its better to change to it or stick with zem_events trying to patch it.

Re: Help with Upgrade

We did wonder if it was an ancient plugin, that was no longer compatible with TP 4.5.4

But then it displays the preloaded events, which were present before we migrated to newer server running latest versions of PHP/MySQL
