Configuring desktop editor / offline editor to work with TextPattern

Hello,

Tonight I tried configuring MacJournal, an offline editor, to access my TextPattern CMS blog. The error returned to me is:

“server error. wrong number of method parameters”

I am sort of technically disinclined, but here, in my n00bishness, is what I’ve done:

1) Enabled the xml-rpc server at Admin>Preferences>Advanced on my site.
2) Scoured the FAQs on this site, including the “How do I…?” section, for answers.
3) Updated the site’s PHP from 5.2.x to 5.3.x at the host’s end of things, I suppose I could try 5.4.x.
4) After MacJournal failed to “autodetect” the Textpattern CMS settings, I entered the following — NAME: [my blog’s name] TYPE: Movable Type URL: [my blog’s url] POST URL: [my blog’s url]/rpc USER: [my admin username] BLOG ID: articles. When attempting to sync and after being prompted for a password, I received the generic error message “There was an unknown error when communicating with the server.” I tried both autodetect and manual entry of settings before updating PHP and after.

Simply typing the url with /rpc at the end into a browser does produce an interesting page of ASCII indicating the server is up … I think? is what the paragraph of text means?

I will also try posting to a MacJournal support forum, as I don’t know at which end I should tackle this. I posted here rather than in “plugins” as it seems xml-rpc is now baked into Textpattern, although apparently it was not always. If someone has specific experience configuring this or a similar offline editor to work with a Textpattern site, and can offer fairly step-by-step guidance, I surely would appreciate it! :-)
