[not related to IT] My city became famous via dailymail.co.uk

The Russian city being ‘eaten alive’ : Cars, buses, and trucks disappear beneath the earth as they are swallowed by giant sinkholes.

  • Citizens of Samara live in daily fear of the ground disappearing beneath them
  • Dozens of holes have sprung up across the city in recent weeks
  • The sinkholes have left a trail of devastation and reportedly claimed one life

Maybe this attention will get our roads at least on mediocre level.

Wow, that sucks. I hope luck stays on your side. Looking at a map of the area, it seems like it would be a good idea to move the city about 20km NE. ;-)

BTW nice work on the 2 Architects site.

“They are also common in Florida, America.”

As someone who lives in Florida, America, you have my sincerest sympathies because they can be awful to deal with.

I’m surprised the Daily Mail didn’t blame brown people, lesbians, single parents, left-wing activists or the BBC. Or, when judgment day finally arrives, the unstoppable hybrid: a lesbian, liberal-voting single parent of Afro-Caribbean extraction who works at the BBC.
