Two Tone Design portfolio site & Brisbane Vintage business directory
Hi all
I recently completed my first two sites in Textpattern. I normally hand my designs over to a developer, but thought I’d give Textpattern a crack and have been pleasantly surprised. The tag reference is a godsend!
The first was a portfolio site for my own business
Two Tone Design
The second is a business directory-style site
Brisbane Vintage
I used the following plugins:
bot_image_upload
cbs_category_list (Brisbane Vintage only)
smd_gallery
smd_lib
soo_if_frontpage
zem_contact_lang (Two Tone Design only)
zem_contact_reborn (Two Tone Design only)
I’m toying with the idea of implementing a like/dislike plugin (cbe_helpful?) and perhaps a submission form on Brisbane Vintage, but will wait to see how popular the site is first.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Lovely stuff, all nice valid HTML5 code too which I like!
Maybe also post these sites in the Sites section at the Textpattern Google+ Community for extra plaudits – we’re building up a good portfolio of sites on there now.

Very nice, but on the first site please take care of small screen devices too. :)

Thanks Oleg. Yes, a responsive layout is on my list of things to do :)

Nice, in the Two Tone website, you should use thumbnails for the images in the homepage under “Featured work”
or use SLIR

Thanks for the tip. I’m using thumbnails now. Originally I wasn’t happy with the compression on the thumbnails but I figured out from another forum thread how to change it in the core.

Yea, I also modify the “class.thumb.php” file each time by changing the sharpen and quality properties, if that’s what you are talking about.

Very nice!
How did you make the registration form – http://brisbane-vintage.com/list-your-business/? Especially UPLOAD YOUR LOGO?

@THE BLUE DRAGON
Yes, that’s exactly what I meant.

The form and home page slideshow are new and I’m still tinkering. I used EmailMeForm which was the first service I found that allowed file uploads on their free plan.
You can embed the hosted form from their site or paste the code directly into a TXP page which gives you greater styling powers on the free plan. The downside with the latter (which is how I’ve done it) is if the form doesn’t validate, the user gets redirected to the hosted version which doesn’t look the same.
Right now I’m happy that it works but eventually I’d prefer to use something like mem_form once I figure it out.
