Prevent direct file download?

On my blog I have a download section, in which there are just files that I offer for download, mainly PDF parts catalogs. The whole purpose behind having these PDFs is SEO. The second objective is to drive traffic to my site, doesn’t matter if it is related or not.

Basically I’ve prevented hotlinking using .htaccess. Now say if on google a user finds one of the .PDF files and clicks on it, he or she will be taken to my /blog/downloads/ page.

But this does not prevent direct downloads.

If a user has link to a file, he or she can just enter that link into browser and download the file.

What I want to do is to have the user visit my site in order to download any of the files, preferably with a capcha.

Is there a plugin that does what I want? How to implement this?

Re: Prevent direct file download?

We used to have asy_captia but I think that it no longer works.
