RSS feed for new releases and patches only?

I’m trying to make my sysadmin stuff easier by getting a notification of software updates some of my sites use.

The category patches (http://textpattern.com/weblog/?c=patches) looked like the one but it doesn’t include 4.4.1 announcement. I’d rather not subscribe to all the other news as well.

At the moment (TXP 4.4.n) check

A hint for upcoming releases is the update of history.txt and index.php :)

Why not use SVN for dynamic updates?

Yeah, only because we always forget to document that as we go… one day we’ll do it properly and catch you all by surprise with a release :-)

One could also get the changes that target releases directory. I.e. http://code.google.com/feeds/p/textpattern/svnchanges/basic?path=/releases/. Which will only list releases (and some pre-release/post-branch commits).

Why not use SVN for dynamic updates?

With SVN one could use svn list to get the list of releases. E.g.

svn list http://textpattern.googlecode.com/svn/releases

Which gives the list of files in releases directory.

?path=/releases/.

Oops. Wow. Astonishing. Etc. :)

(Edit) Source of wisdom

The SVN commit feeds also have a path= URL parameter that will let you filter changes by path. The path is a prefix that matches files in the commits, so include the trailing slash.
