[.com] Proposal: A new "Textpattern CMS Partners" section

Textpattern is relatively unknown among webdesigners/agencies. Thus, as a client my chance of finding someone to work on my existing TXP driven site is rather small. If I turn to any web agency chances are they’ll set up a new install, one of TXP’s competitors, and I have to pay for what I actually have paid for yet. And one more TXP installation dies.

TXP itself will suffer from a bad reputation as a niche product that needed to be trashed together with the agency.
Similar effect for hosting companies: the more hassles an agency has on a certain hosting service not specialised in TXP installations, the more uncontent they are with the CMS and the more likely is they will choose another one next time. Bad for TXP, probably even for the hosting company.

Now please have a look at what Contao does at this point. On their website they list all kinds of partners (agencies, programmers, trainers, hosting companies) and let the visitor filter this list against certain criteria.

I think textpattern.com should also have a partner section, everyone involved can benefit much:

  • First-time clients can decide in favor of TXP with more ease of mind, having alternatives for the agency/the service provider they originally chose.
  • Clients with an existing TXP site can look for an agency that doesn’t have to set up a completely new CMS installation.
  • TXP installations are kept alive, are remembered with positive connotations, instead of silently making room for “a more known competitor”.
  • Agencies can attract new clients instead of losing them to their non-TXP competition.
  • Agencies and service providers get an “online list ad” plus their own page to present themselves and their range, and they get a link to their site where they have all the space in the world for showcasing.
  • Trainers can alleviate in equal measure agencies’ and clients’ everyday life: Trained users are more likely satisfied with TXP, and web designers can do what they are actually paid for.
  • Knowing hosting companies that offer one click TXP installation and knowledge for TXPs requirements, increases loyalties, too.
  • Having a variety of TXP programmers leads to perceiving TXP as a factor that agencies and clients can still rely on should their knowledge end.

All things considered, a partner section would offer benefit for all the campaign participants and it would greatly add to TXPs reputation. It’d say “Textpattern cares about your problems!”

Now we just need some approval by devs, the wisdom of content strategist Destry Wion, on how to prepare and present this content… and someone to do it!

After some time has passed now I could read my post like another persons text, and I have to say: I’m not sure if you understood what you voted for ;))

Edited to add: Tried to iron out the most evil linguistic kinks in the meantime.
