Spam showing up in Google search results.
I’ve had two clients mention this to me this week. For some reason, when they Google their site, they get results like the photo attached. I’ve looked through the source, but don’t see any mention of Cialis, etc. Any idea what the deal is?
Both sites are using the 4.2 install. Obviously I need to update, but I wanted to see if there was anything else I had to look out for.
Thanks!

Re: Spam showing up in Google search results.
I went through the sites and found a file titled “whois.dat”, which contained a bunch of really annoying stuff. So, that’s the file. Deleted it, updated Textpattern. Hopefully we’re all good.

I would try to investigate how the file got there in the first place. You may also need to change the passwords to the ftp/panel/database etc.

It doesn’t seem to be a Txp-only thing…

Maybe it takes a bit more to clean up.
