splitting a txp install

hi…

i made a large site around a year ago using textpattern. the owner of this site now wants to split it into more manageable chunks. part of the site is a blog, which at the moment is located at website.com/blog. the owner of the site wants to set up a new textpattern installation at blog.website.com, move the blog content there, and remove it from the ‘main’ txp installation.

what’s the best way to do this? i’d like to avoid manually copying and pasting hundreds of blog posts from one txp install to another, so i’m curious about whether there is any easy way to export from one txp install to another (including images/links/markup) either through the basic txp interface or else via a plugin.

any other advice on the best way to proceed would be much appreciated (i had looked into a multi-site installation of textpattern before, and it was beyond my capabilities, and really didn’t suit what i was trying to do anyway).

thanks.

Re: splitting a txp install

You could download the db using phpmyadmin and upload it in another database. Then go to articles and delete all posts which do not belong to section blog.

Having said that, I think that splitting the site will be more of a headache as it will involve maintaining 2 databases, 2 txp installs, 2 sets of plugins, 2 sets of templates and css and bug tracking on both, probably 2 sets of statistics, etc.

I would try to persuade them to keep it all in one (redesigned) site.
