Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs
Any chance of being able to select articles based on the value of a custom field?

One day … it’s been requested before & is on my “to do” list.

Thanks Adi. Just hope your “to do” list isn’t as long as mine!

Article image is certainly feasible – I’ll look into it. Not sure about thumbnail though. I can envisage the matrix tab layout going completely pear-shaped.
Hi Adi.
Recently, I discovered this plugin and I am astonished how handy it is.
I have the same question/request/wish that Zanza expressed.
Have you thought to add the option to show thumb image for each article? It would be very useful to find articles such “clothes” or some similar.
Best regards
Pd: let me know if you need a volutary for a Spanish translation

Yes, I can see the benefits of such a thing. In a beta version, I’ve been experimenting with providing links to image edit tabs. Not entirely satisfied with the results – things get a bit awkward when there’s more than one image. Displaying a thumbnail is not too much of a leap of imagination but suffers from the same issues.

Got the new translations, thanks. Uploaded & ready for action.
————————————————————————————————————————————————-
It’s probably about time I made the new beta version generally available. There are a few enhancements:
- publish & delete articles (for mrdale)
- extra article data options: title, section
- show sections
- added section & author to article title tooltip
- matrix under Content or Home tab
- improved validation error messages
- custom WHERE clause conditions
I anyone would like to test it for me, please give me a shout.

When you say “…things get a bit awkward when there’s more than one image…”. What do you mean? Do you refer just a thumb image per article? (I do) or is a matter about size of image in each register that break the look and feel? (being so, you could adjust the image size through CSS) or is a matter related to the queries to DB that putting slow the output?

Count with me. I’d like to try these new functions of your great plugin.

Adjusting image sizes is not a problem, mucking up the symmetry of the matrix grid is what I’m concerned about – it needs to be done in a way that doesn’t interfere with the ease of finding data visually. Something, perhaps, that I need to experiment with.
I’ll send you an email with the beta stuff.

Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs
I’m running into issues again with a lot of articles with a lot of custom fields. On one install it will work with 100 articles but not 200. When submitting a matrix with 180 or so, it gives up and dumps back to the articles screen
- I’ve turned off php’s
suhosinmodule - I’ve set
post_max_size=0(no limit on post size) in php.ini
Problem still persists. Am I missing something in my TXP install?
Any ideas gomedia, other braniacs?

Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs
Hi Adi. Have you been able to advance something in the development of this plugin? Do you remember I asked you the possibility to add to the matrices the thumb image? I am sure, it would be very handy.
I look forward any news.
Thanks

Unfortunately not, sorry … life & clients have taken over somewhat. I haven’t even managed to officially release 2.0. I’ve still got your list of excellent suggestions, as well as some from mrdale. One day, I’ll get organised.

Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs
Live Geocoder Script for adi_matricies…
I have a geocoder script written by manfre for the write page. With the help of that clever bastard Igner I adapted this geocoder to work with multiple articles on a matrix page.
What it does
- An editor enters info into or updates designated address, city, state, zip custom_fields
- The script looks up the address in google maps API which returns Lat and Long values
- The Lat and Long values get pushed into corresponding Lat and Long custom fields.
On save your article now has pre-geocoded locations.
The Script
You’ll have to load the script somehow, either with jmd_admin_js or bot_write_tab_customize and change the custom field numbers according to your setup.
<script type="text/javascript" src="//maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function($) {
$(function() {
$(".adi_matrix_matrix tr").each(function() {
$('input[name*="custom_4"],input[name*="custom_5"],input[name*="custom_6"],input[name*="custom_7"]').blur(function() {
var row = $(this).parents('tr');
// now set your variables
var geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder();
var address = $('input[name*="custom_4"]', row); //4
var city = $('input[name*="custom_5"]', row); //5
var state = $('input[name*="custom_6"]', row); //6
var zip = $('input[name*="custom_7"]', row); //7
var lat = $('input[name*="custom_11"]', row); //11
var lng = $('input[name*="custom_12"]', row); //12
// probably good to test that they're all non-null
if (address != undefined && city != undefined && state != undefined && zip != undefined) {
var a = address.val() + ' ' + city.val() + ' ' + state.val() + ' ' + zip.val();
geocoder.geocode({
'address': a
}, function(results, status) {
if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) {
var x = results[0].geometry.location.lat();
var y = results[0].geometry.location.lng();
lat.val(x);
lng.val(y);
if (console && console.log) {
console.log('Geocoded address "' + a + '" ' + x + ',' + y);
}
} else {
if (console && console.log) {
console.log('Geocode failed with status ' + status + '; address=' + a);
}
}
});
}
});
});
});
})(jQuery);
</script>
Write Page version (for extra points)
<script type="text/javascript">
(function($){
$(function(){
var geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder();
var address = $('#custom-4');
var city = $('#custom-5');
var state = $('#custom-6');
var zip = $('#custom-7');
var lat = $('#custom-11');
var lng = $('#custom-12');
$('#custom-4, #custom-5, #custom-6, #custom-7').blur(function(){
var a = address.val() + ' ' + city.val() + ' ' + state.val() + ' ' + zip.val();
geocoder.geocode( { 'address': a }, function(results, status) {
if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) {
var x = results[0].geometry.location.lat();
var y = results[0].geometry.location.lng();
lat.val(x);
lng.val(y);
if (console && console.log){
console.log('Geocoded address "' + a + '" ' + x + ',' + y);
}
} else {
if (console && console.log){
console.log('Geocode failed with status ' + status + '; address=' + a);
}
}
});
});
});
})(jQuery);
</script>
enjoy!
