Displaying only the articles from a selected category

Because of database limits (I’ve stored 800++ articles), someone from this forum explained me, time ago, I need to prevent excessive processing activities and remove the most of if-expressions, to prevent slowing of my website.

My leading problem is I make visitors can get displayed all the articles (10-15) of about 7-10 different categories for each tematic section (about 11 sections); so I need are displayed only all the articles from 1 selected category each time.

I have read some posts about setting a form with .html <option> TAG and some textpattern tags, but really I don’t understand anything about it, mainly because I also never used formmails soo much to well understand how <post> and <get> work. For this reason all this is for me a really puzzle.
Are there any pre-formatted templates to customize?

In other case I need to practice this solution, if possible, following a different way.
For examples I answer: Can I get all this by means of a html form-mail with only some substitutions of textpattern tags, maybe inserted by means of an external form?

Really I can’t find any solution and at a same time I cannot make are displayed again so much articles in each tematic page.
