Hi Jordan
Welcome!
Most of the time the folks on the forum don’t bite. At least not very hard :P
Have you had a chance to look at Textbook: Orientation yet?
In the 101, First Steps, and Quick Start links you will find the basic concepts explained and working with sections, pages and forms addressed.
Ask questions and hopefully it will begin to make sense.
Mike

Re: New User - need to work on existing TXP site HELP!!
Newbie installation problem.
I have installed TXP in an ubuntu server, running Apache 2.2.14, php 5.3.2 and mysql 5.1.41 all has gone well until I go to set up preferences. Every time I select the Language tab I get the error
Warning gzinflate():data error in /home/rbn/textpattern/textpattern/lib/IXRClass.php on line 714 together with the error message Can’t connect to remote server to check for updated language files. Please try again later. Internet access is fine from the server.
/home/rbn/textpattern is the path to my installation, and the apache server is setup so that this is the doc root.
Also diagnostics lists practically every file saying it has been altered, although I am not aware of having done anything apart from moving the folder from the download folder to the current position, and altering write access privs where necessary. No other diagnostic messages.
Any ideas as to where I go from here?
Robin

Hi Robin, welcome to Textpattern!

Did you download the stable version from here? And can you post your (high) diagnostics?
Also, for future reference, it’s better to start a new topic for new questions.
