cannot log in - no user was created
Hi there,
I just followed the setup and installed txp the very first time. Then I had to chose real name, username and password, no big deal.
The next page told me everything is fine and I now can log in.
I went to the log in panel and typed in username and password (not the real name obviously) and got the error “Could not login with that name/password.”
Ok, strange I thought so I clicked the “forgot password button” and typed in my username and he told me “couldn’t find”.
So hm, I opened my phpmyadmin and checked the txp_users table -> no user inside.
So I have no chance to get into my txp admin :( because there is no user.
What can I do?
Thanks
Martin

Re: cannot log in - no user was created
Hm. This is a good question, actually. I thought you might be able to do it by inserting a new user into the txp_users table directly, but it seems txp won’t recognize the passwords of users set up this way. They appear under the users tab in the admin section, but they can’t login. I’m guessing it’s because their passwords aren’t encrypted. Hm…
Worst case scenario is you drop all the tables and start over.

Re: cannot log in - no user was created
I tried that as well -added a new user manually and then I tried to resent my password.
I got an e-Mail with a confirmation link, clicked on it, but only saw a 404 :(
I then dropped all tables, started over but had the same issue.
What now?

I don’t know the answer; haven’t heard of this one before. You might be more likely to catch the attention of the devs by reposting in the troubleshooting forum.
Code is topiary

If you log into phpmyadmin with exactly the same credentials as the Txp user you are using in your config.php file can you insert into the txp_user table?

Re: cannot log in - no user was created
When you manually added the user, did you enter the password as described here (under #6)?

Re: cannot log in - no user was created
Martin,
glad you got that working. However, I’d love to know why the initial user wasn’t created in your first install attempt — that may be an installer bug that needs ironing out. Was this on a fresh install of TXP 4.2.0?

Re: cannot log in - no user was created
yes it is 4.2.0
in the meantime, I had some heaps of troubles with my webserver – this one is really not the best (for Germans: it’s T-Com webspace). You don’t even have access to .htaccess.
I reinstalled the same files on another webserver and it worked perfectly – no trouble at all.
So I really think it was a server problem and not related to txp
Does it make sense?
