iPage and 4.2.0

Greetings,

I am attempting to install 4.2.0 hosted on ipage. I am getting and error that textpattern is unable to connect to the database. I have used ipage with joomla and it worked. Is there something that has to be done in ipage to get this to work. I noticed on the install directions there is the hostID_dbname and such but I don’t know these settings.

If anyone has used ipage to install textpattern some help would be great. Here is the error.

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock’ (2) in /hermes/bosweb/web038/b383/ipg.timandpaigecom/dev/textpattern/textpattern/setup/index.php on line 207

Can’t connect to database

My database and user seem to work. I used the default user grant settings from the ipage control panel. So, I am not sure if it’s something with ipage or with textpattern or both.

Sincerely,

Tim

Re: iPage and 4.2.0

Did you enter the right database settings in config.php? You can follow – partly – these instructions, and in step #4 the database server, name and user will be displayed. You will need to enter these exact settings in config.php.

Re: iPage and 4.2.0

Thanks for the help so far. Yes, the mysql is running I was able to run some sql statements and that worked. About the config.php file however, do I write that manually or does that get written during the setup process?

Re: iPage and 4.2.0

The error occurs during the setup process after adding in the mysql settings. The settings are correct for the user name password and db.

When you click ‘Next’ in Step 2? Or when you click ‘I did it’ in Step 3?

It’s possible that the host is wrong. Did you leave ‘localhost’ in the MySQL server field?

Re: iPage and 4.2.0

Els,

I have the original problem fixed. iPage has the db server not on the localhost. I added in the sever and I was able to get to the admin side of textpattern however on the front-end side I get a 500 internal server error. I thought it might be with the .htaccess file or the db server string. I renamed config.php and I get the same error. After getting my config.php setting back in place I went and changed the permanent link mode to messy. Again nothing change on the front-end side of textpattern. Do you know what might cause this problem?
