moving to another server problems

Hello,

“hands in hair” alert. I managed to get going with TXP on MAMP but now I try to move everything to my host, enginehosting.com. They are very helpful and said the database information such as username, pass, mysql address are correct.

I emptied the whole directory at my server /public_html/
I uploaded the latest textpattern version so I got now /public_html/textpattern
and at /public_html/ there is css.php “files” “images” and so forth

All looks okay and complete.

Now I go to http://www.carelse.com/textpattern/setup/index.php and get:
Welcome to Textpattern
Inevitably, we need a few details

This part works as well. I fill it in with the correct information and then I get:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user ‘carelse’@‘192.168.206.90’ (using password: YES) in /www/eh7629/public_html/textpattern/setup/index.php on line 207

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user ‘carelse’@‘192.168.206.90’ (using password: YES) in /www/eh7629/public_html/textpattern/setup/index.php on line 209
Can’t connect to database

Is there anybody out there who could help. I looked at quiet many threads already and also e.g. http://graphicpush.com/moving-txp-from-one-install-to-another but the rss_admin_db_manager doesn’t work for me and PHPmyadmin is ok.

Re: moving to another server problems

problem solved… password was incorrect. Embarrassing but I am glad I got 1 step further

summary of my problems, in case someone else is stuck for hours
1
check passwords for database and access to phpmyadmin (or equivalent), my assumption was they’re the same and they are not (in my case) This costed me 3 hours :-)

2
the full server paths have always been my problem, never understood when to use the full version and when the relative version. After some fiddling and actually reading the error messages and suggestions that TXP adds I managed. Also as I used expressionengine before my brain still used the concepts they used.

3
restart your browser. I tried to import a database and got error after error. Restart of browser and the import worked immediately

4
go to sleep, rest or do something else for a moment.

My site is up and running and there are some issues still. CSS is not rendering the background color properly but I will solve that. Sections are missing as I could not get categories to work, I solve that too (with your help of course). But it is there, basic and barebones as intended.
