can articles and files share the same category?

I want to post an article with an embedded video in the same category as downloadable media. I can’t seem to place them in the same category. Is there a way?

Re: can articles and files share the same category?

They can have that in common where they both have the same category name but they are two separate types of content. You can present them together in a way that makes them appear to be from the same category space but your limited to using the available parts of each type of content that are the same or can appear to be the same. For instance the body field for an article can be presented in the same fashion that you present the description field for a file and a visitor won’t be bothered with the limitation you are.

The potentially difficult but possible thing to do to present them in a list or other layout together. If you wanted to have a list show those from each content type in alphabetical order for example, you may have to work up a complicated (or maybe not so) combo of tags.

If you would explain what you want your presentation of content to be and act like then I or someone might be able to suggest something more specific such as a plugin or native txp tag example you can try.
