Article titles identical to section names

I just changed a (dev) site’s permanent link mode from /section/title to /title. The client definitely needs it this way, so it goes.

Now I’ve got a problem where sticky articles designed to top section pages often have the exact same url as the section itself. For some of these URLs I get the section, for others I get the article. I can’t discern a pattern.

Is there a way to force Textpattern to always treat these “duplicate” URLs as sections rather than individual articles?

Obviously I can fix it for now by changing the article URL-only titles or the section names, but I’m worried about this popping up in the future as more sections are added (and not necessarily by Textpattern experts).

Is the behavior of a sticky article not as assertive (first in line) as the presence of a section request? I have no idea what to say.

Can you use categories instead of sections?

Re: Article titles identical to section names

Categories instead of sections won’t work in this case. However the assertiveness works out, it doesn’t seem to be consistent (at least not without involving more factors that is it a section or a sticky article).
