.htaccess wrong when upgrading from 4.0.8 ro 4.20 - and solution

I’ve been using TXP successfully (thanks a lot!) on about 10 installations so far – I also upgraded successfully from 4.0.8 to 4.20 on my own rootserver.

However, this time as I wanted to upgrade from 4.0.8 to 4.20 on a virtual host of domainfactory ( www.df.eu ) , I got an error 500 at the entry page at first (backend is working fine and shows “problem with clean URLs” in Diagnosis only). Their helpdesk then showed me that I’d have to use (.htaccess file) this line:

RewriteRule ^(.*) /index.php

and not

RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php

as in the TXP package (the slash / makes the difference)

However, it seems to work on some and not to work on other machines.

Wouldn’i it be a good suggestion that TXP might first try “index.php” and if that fails “/index.php” ? Or that you might adapt your help text concerning clean URl function? At the moment this helptext is not too helpful (it says basically only “problems with .htaccess”)

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards
Andreas
