rah sitemap plugin

For some reason, I can’t get this to give me the desired sitemap. I can go to the Extensions tab and hit the “View Sitemap” link, but the output is not in the format Google is looking for. Along the top, I get a message:

“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.”

What’s “shown below” looks like a sitemap, but copying it into a text document. Anyone have this same trouble initially with rah sitemap?

Re: rah sitemap plugin

Plugin support topics are there for a reason.

  1. You can read there information.
  2. You can ask there.

Your server meets all requirements? If it doesn’t for example use PHP 5, it doesn’t support the timestamp used in the plugin, resulting in invalid sitemap. In that case you need to change the timestamp.

“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.”

As it says, the sitemap has no style assigned with it. The message (and cool styling) is added by your browser itself. It’s not in the sitemap or nothing to do with it.

I’ll try it again. I never saw the forum post you linked, or if I did I didn’t go deep enough.

Re: rah sitemap plugin

I went to http://www.turvatek.ee/?rah_sitemap=sitemap and see the same thing I was seeing on my site. My mistake was copying that to a text file and submitting THAT to google. No love.

So, this sitemap looks like its live. All I have to do is tell google my sitemap lives at http://www.thebestcabinetsite.com/?rah_sitemap=sitemap ?

Re: rah sitemap plugin

I too am having trouble getting Google Sitemap to see my rah sitemap. So, when you say “All I have to do is tell google my sitemap lives at…” what do you mean by that specifically. I’ve submitted a regular sitemap.php file. Am I to replace the content of that sitemap.php (or sitemap.xml) with something like: http://www.websitename.com/?rah_sitemap=sitemap ?

That’s what I’ve done for multiple sites with no problems.

Re: rah sitemap plugin

I just tried it and Google Sitemap console displays a red “X” under results. But I’ll wait a few days to see if the sitemap works after all.

Thanks for the quick feedback though.

Re: rah sitemap plugin

Typically for Google you would use your Google Webmaster Tools account and submit:

?rah_sitemap=sitemap instead of, for instance, sitemap.xml, as your sitemap location.

You don’t have to upload anything. rah_sitemap is generating the xml. Google just needs to know where to find it.

If you don’t have a Google Webmaster Tools account you should really get one.

Re: rah sitemap plugin

Thanks Vurt. That’s what I’ve done. Now I’m waiting to see if Google sees me. It’s only been 3 days, so I don’t know if I have any issues yet. But, again, thanks for the clarification.
