Searchable external newsfeed

Hi guys,

i’ve got some customers that are including content (xml/html treenavigation) on their homepages.
It works fine, but now i would like to make this external content searchable.
Is there a way (in any CMS – prefering txp, since this is a textpattern-supportforum ;P) to include this external content into the search of txp?
The content is included with a php-script, that is included in an article using php (include() script.php).

I could provide an atomfeed to have everything in one file.

so.. can i include an external file/url into the textpattern search?

regards,

rvf

Re: Searchable external newsfeed

You could try to save the feed’s items into Textpattern’s article database. Some of the feed plugins did that, atleast in past.

Re: Searchable external newsfeed

Of course there are workarounds to feed RSS feeds into Textpattern. asv_tumblelog comes to my mind.

What is possible is to store external RSS feed content in TXP articels + the external URL in a custom field.
The article form (and even the search result form) would show the external link as you like.

But if I get you right you want to include external sites into the built-in Textpatern search?
That’s not possible. To realize a multi-site search you might consider using Google Custom Search (CSE).

can i include an external file/url into the textpattern search?

No.
