Integrating a URL shortening script

there are plenty of URL shorteners that you can install yourself these days, one of them for example is called YOURLS and it has a wordpress plugin. has anyone been considering making something like this for textpattern?

it would be useful for your blog if you had a “tweet this” button, you could spit out a short url.

to make things even more complicated, i’d like to buy a shorter name of one of my domains, and run the url shortening script on that one. but that’s a whole other mess.
