Re: Postmaster Revamp (Ransom met!)

OK – I found the batch settings (near the bottom) which I had read about in the preferences… but not sure if this means in each batch per hour, or each batch per pass (pass as in page refresh when sending) or what it means at all :).

I know that on some previous shared hosts I have used, they only wanted 40-50 emails an hour to be sent to prevent a spam blacklisting… and I presume server load.

ps – $300 is reasonable I reckon…

Re: Postmaster Revamp (Ransom met!)

What about Double-Opt-In (or “registration confirmation”)? In Germany it is required to have this function when sending newsletters via email.

It doesn’t do this out of the box, but because it uses the ZCR API you could make this happen in the following way…

  1. Make a signup ZCR form that does no signup but that copies the sender.
  2. Include in that form a link to a second form with the email address and other info in urlvars
  3. Create a second form that is nowhere in your navigation, and have it pull out the values from the urlvars to populate the second form
  4. So the user is presented with a pre-prepared sign up form.

This should work by utilyzing smd_if and the new tag parser.

Re: Postmaster Revamp (Ransom met!)

Maybe a discussion should start regarding the naming of the plugin.

  1. its actual name txp:postmaster does not adhear to the 3 digit signature of txp plugins
  2. Now that the plugin is changing hands, a new name should be found so as not to have members confusing it with the old one – although compatibility with existing postmaster lists should IMO be maintained.

Dale can you slightly expand on this one? For example: I take it that a “Do Not Send” feature is maintained.
