[mention] Textpattern up for a .net magazine award

.net magazine has opened up voting for the best of the web in 2009. Textpattern is one of the finalists under Open Source Application of the Year. As they say, it’s an honour just to be nominated . . . but wouldn’t it be cool to win. Vote now.

Let me see if I get this straight, you want us to feel giddy about some award that a magazine site which promotes a language that was specifically created to slow down and/or destroy Java and in the process destroyed Borland, which left many of us with Delphi experience to twist in the wind.

Yeah, let’s all hold hands and sing Kumbaya!

That’s a twisted joke, right…?

In reality netmag actually promotes less or more CSS, Flash, and web design… it’s real magazine aimed at web designers. I believe the .net is just a name and has absolutely nothing to do with the framework.

Btw, voted. Go go Textpattern.

The competition seems unfair with firefox and jquery competing against drupal or txp. It’s like rooting for Cyprus to win the World Cup.

Done.

Then they picked the wrong name for the magazine. I would have dismissed it and walked on had I seen the real magazine at a bookstore. I don’t know the history of the mag or how long it’s been out but I presume that naming the mag .net may have had something to do with the framework.

What if the, really unpopular not-so-interesting, magazine is way older than the Framework? Evil scam by Microsoft? ;)

From the same page: .net was previously sold under the name Web Builder in the USA. In December 2006, it took on the name of Practical Web Design in the wake of that particular publication’s closure in the UK.

So the change to .net, from what I gather, happened recently.

Re: [mention] Textpattern up for a .net magazine award

hi Bert, no, not quite: from .net Please note that .net is sold as Practical Web Design overseas, and goes on sale 4 weeks later in the US (6 weeks in Australia).

I think that the wikipedia article is referring to Web Builder closing and Practical Web Design launching. .net is around for longer and its name refers to the tld and not the framework.
