Spreedly Paid Subscriptions

The Reason

Spreedly (Subscription Management / Bad Ass) http://spreedly.com/

The Resource

PHP implementation of API: http://www.neobudget.com/spreedly/

The TXP Plugin

Does not exist yet.

The Purpose

of a TXP plugin is:

  • To notify TXP of a new subscription created at Spreedly and create a new ‘account’ in ign_users.
  • Introduces question of wether ign_users can have more columns added without breaking it’s plugin. I’ve yet to try adding columns to it but want to for other purposes as well as this one.
  • Email notification of newly created account in TXP to new account holders email address (yes/no)

Re: Spreedly Paid Subscriptions

Yes and no. I am trying my hardest to learn how to use PHP well enough to accomplish this however I wanted to post this in the hopes that someone else who this might be a cake walk for would see it and whip one up. I know this is been a popular type of functionality people talk about here – the ability to have paid subscriptions create user accounts in TXP. I’m sure many people are sick of fiddling with Paypal IPN in order to achieve this. Spreedly is another middle man but I think they are definitely making it worthwhile.

Hmm. I’m definitely interested in this one. I could bump this to the top of my plugin “to-make” queue.

That is exciting!

I noticed here that the API for Spreedly seems to focus mostly on ‘requests’ to their server. I’m assuming that one cannot receive a notice of some kind from Spreedly upon successful subscription. These ‘requests’ to their server would however make for some powerful subscriber management tools that could be applied to the TXP back-end. Again, notice the wide range of options.

I asked this question at Spreedly’s Get Satisfaction site.
