Main feed and section specific feed

I have a site with several sections. All these sections are syndicated through the main feed, as in site.com/rss.

Now I have a new section called /shop and I want to offer feeds of it as well. However, I don’t want the new section’s contents ending up in the main feed, but rather in a separate, stand-alone feed. At the same time, I’d rather not change the main feed URL. Any idea on how to achieve this?

Thanks.

Re: Main feed and section specific feed

Would this suffice?

http://site.com/rss/?section=shop
http://site.com/rss/?section=news
http://site.com/rss/?section=etc…

Similarly:

http://site.com/atom/?section=shop
http://site.com/atom/?section=news
http://site.com/atom/?section=etc…

I believe this all will give you the desired effect.

Re: Main feed and section specific feed

Thanks for the reply, Josh.

By manually entering the URL you suggested, I can indeed subscribe to that section feed, but it looks empty at the moment since I didn’t turn on the “syndicate this section” option under the Sections preferences. I didn’t turn it on ‘cause, otherwise, that section’s feed will also end up in the main feed. At least that’s my understanding.

Ah, I see. I’m not sure how to work around that.

Hi Neko

There is this tutorial but you can also use jukka’s plugin instead of creating a new section (suggested in the tutorial).

Note that if you use it, the url of the feed will change from http://site.com/rss/?section=shop (which does not work anyway) to http://site.com/?rah_external_output=shop
