Domain expired
Last night, for a few hours, Textpattern.com was unreachable, my ISP couldn’t even find the DNS record. Did a Whois and found out that the Textpattern.com domain had expired, oh I thought, what a hot property to own ;)

Bert, did you manage to register this?
I just checked and get mixed results. Instantdomainsearch.com still shows this as available so I tried to register this for the community but my host says it’s taken. Is it safe in your hands — or in one of the developer’s possession? Presumably it is indeed safe as the domain now resolves and to the right place.

If you go to whois.easydns.com and do a whois lookup it shows Dean to be the owner. I guess he renewed the registration of the domain as dotster’s whois service shows that it is registered until 26-Jul-2010.

Normally domains will be automatically renewed by the registar and not by the domain owner (depending on the agreement with the registar):
The expiration date displayed in this record is the date the registrar’s sponsorship of the domain name registration in the registry is currently set to expire. This date does not necessarily reflect the expiration date of the domain name registrant’s agreement with the sponsoring registrar. Users may consult the sponsoring registrar’s Whois database to view the registrar’s reported date of expiration for this registration.
