en-gb.txt does not change the txp_lang table (duh?)

When I edit textpattern/lang/en-bg.txt the changes I make do not appear in any places they ought to (or I assume they should). I am attempting to change the email message that new accounts receive — among other things.

An example of my attempt to do what I’m complaining about:

you_have_been_registered => You have registered as a contributor to the site

is edited to say (in textpattern/lang/en-bg.txt):

you_have_been_registered => You have been added to the best website in the world

I was under the impression that editing textpattern/lang/en-bg.txt would change these text snippets site-wide.

UPDATE: It appears, upon looking in the DB itself that there is a txp_lang table! It does not get updated when I edit this file (textpattern/lang/en-bg.txt). Obviously I can now change these values with phpmyadmin so in a way I’m in the clear now.

Does anyone have any comments or pies to throw at me? Am I missing something?

You might find wet_babble useful. A discussion of why your efforts may not be the most successful approach is here.

Ah, that is a fantastic plugin and will cause for me to have a portable language file I can tote around with me as I build other sites.

Say no more. That thread helped very much. I am convinced the aforementioned plugin is the best solution at present.

Thanks Robert! This is really helpful.
