TxpMag

why is TxpMag showing the availability of EE rather than anything about a Testpattern book?

Keyword, bookreviews. Btw, the author can do anything with his website… Plus because it is just the newest article from books section. Note the activity too.

Re: TxpMag

Thanks. it is rather dated.

I am looking at using TxP for an organization that i am part of. We need to have a blog, a general cms enabled webs site for our conferences, membership registration, publications, events etc. it has to be able to handle multiple “editors” responsible for posting to various “sections” etc. I have a simple TxP site (plain blog) and I have used EE for more complicated sites. My organization would much more prefer to use an OS such as WordPress or Drupal. It would seem to e that TextPattern would be a better choice for us. (they rejected EE)… .So will TxP handle our needs? I am hoping to Find a good TextPattern Book that goes beyound the TextPattern Essentials book.

If this is the wrong thread please post to the correct one.
(ps there are a lot of areas within Textpattern Site that point or lead one to “outdated” web pages such as TxpMag… and the examples pages at txpmag have not been updated since 2007… why link to them at all?)

I agree about TxpMag, but where are the other ‘lots of areas within Textpattern Site that point or lead one to “outdated” web pages’?

I only know of Textpattern Solutions (maybe that’s what you meant). Otherwise there’s plenty of people here who can help you.

Also check the textbook for reference, in particular the indispensable tag reference, the page on semantics and the two related reading articles by Destry (Understanding Textpattern Building Blocks and Textpattern Building Block Mechanics). The plugin repository at textpattern resources is a good place to find add-ons and finally txptips contained snippets worth their weight in gold. As you say, txpmag hasn’t been updated in a while and it’s a shame that Alex’s last article happened to be about EE (the only one, I think) but that’s where it stopped. The other links are up to date.

Thank you very much for these tips and suggestions!

I gather that TxP development is continuing and the user base is still very much robust!

ps i will pass along links that i find that i consider “dead” … so for starter why does this page :
http://textpattern.com/faq/57/can-i-use-textpattern-to-do-this

provide links to this http://txpmag.com and http://txpmag.com/by_cat both of these pages do not help with the txp brand .. esp the last one as many of the txp sites therein lead to deader links… giving the impression that TxP is on the wane! My 2c

You are right of course, thanks for bringing it up. I’ll try and bring it to the dev’s attention.
