users panel tick-box

My Users panel does not look precisely as described in my textbook and the online manual. There are columns for login, real name, email, privileges, last login. Then an Edit button. Then a tick box.

What is the tick box for? Does it need ticking?

Has the previous admin amended how the panel looks, so that it looks like this, or is this now the standard appearance of the panel?

I am new to admin in textpattern, pardon me if this has already been dealt with, I’ve searched and can’t find it.

Ahem *cough* Textbook hasn’t been updated to reflect the changes to that screen in the recent version. Someone needs to take some more screenshots and rewrite the page. If I get a chance I’ll do it unless someone beats me to it this week.

What is the tick box for?

It’s to allow you to edit more than one item at once. Like on the Articles, Files and Images tabs you can tick one or more rows then use the With selected tool at the bottom of the list to make mass changes to all ticked elements.

You can also use the All, None and Range buttons at the bottom to simplify the process of clicking many items. All and None are pretty self-explanatory. If you tick the 2nd and 8th users in the list and then click Range it automatically ticks all the ones between those two as well.

Hope that helps.

Re: users panel tick-box

I guess the image in Textbook is a little outdated. The checkbox shows up as soon as there is more than one user. Below the user list you’ll see a dropdown (‘With selected’) that lets you perform certain actions on the selected users.

(edit: late again…)

Sorry, Els.

Because I jumped in too quickly and answered the forum post, I’ll let you edit the Textbook page to balance things out… :-D
