Streamlining photo uploads

Hey, I’m creating a collaborative photography site where many authors will be posting photos. Right now, photos are being attached to articles as article_image’s, and category 1 is being used to store the photographer’s name.

Right now, uploading a new photo requires visiting both the Image and Write tabs and I’d like to streamline that process. I’ve tried stm_image_uploader, which puts an upload button on the Write tab. That’s better, but it still requires the author to copy/paste the image id to the article image field. What would be better would be a simplified Write tab (or other form) with:

— A text area to enter the body of the article
— A button to upload an image
— A dropdown to select the section (preset to a default section)
— A dropdown to select the category (preset to the appropriate category for that author)

I’ve seen mem_moderation, which provides a simplified form for submitting content from the public side of the site, but that would require moderator approval of all posts which I think diminishes the collaborative feel of the site.

Any thoughts?

Re: Streamlining photo uploads

lam_image_uploader automatically adds the image id to the article_image field. It’s based on stm_image_uploader.
